Hi, welcome to my newsletter.

I’m Dr. Vishal — surgeon, content creator, and your guide to navigating life with clarity.

Issue #24

I am not sure if it's still a thing, but lately I have been craving a dimly lit cozy room with a warm cup of coffee, some retro jazz in the background, and an open book or a laptop, making your mind tingle with thoughts and ideas.

For once, you're lost in your thoughts...in a good way.

Here's a list of the best quotes/ lines from 3 such articles I read this week :

Travel is a boomerang. It drops you right where you started.

This article challenged the notion that travelling is a mystical way of "knowing yourself" and "introspecting about life".

It says that travelling is nothing more than another way of keeping yourself entertained, but in a much more nuanced way.

Every photograph is a philosophical statement—a reflection of the photographer's perspective, worldview, and interpretation of reality.

I wanted to read what lies at the intersection of photography and philosophy because both deal with the way of seeing things, or perspective, so to speak.

I found out that each viewer leaves with their own interpretation of the same photograph, based on their beliefs, experiences and understanding, much like philosophy.

The ability to adapt is inhibited under acute stress; the brain resorts to habitual decision-making because it exerts less demand on our cognitive resources.

This one really made me nod in agreement, putting into words the thing I always felt but could't explain.

To me, it explained the importance of having the right habits in place, taking the pain of learning the right things.

Be it surgical skills or mannerisms, whether you've ruptured an artery or are going on a beautiful date, in acute stress, you will fall back on your habits.

What do you think?

Awaiting your reply.

Cheers,

Dr. Vishal.

The week in pictures :

For some reason, this balding old man (me) is playing with LEGO toys. I found it quite relaxing with some music in the background and some chitter chatter on the side.

On a deeper level, I believe it feels so enjoyable because it is one of the few things left that follow the instruction manual, are predictable and work like they are supposed to, and in the end, you get exactly what you planned since the beginning.
